Acute Internal Medicine ST4 Competition Ratios

The competition ratio for Acute Internal Medicine ST4 training posts in 2025 was 4.43:1. 443 applications were made for 100 posts. This is an increase in the competition level compared to 2024 when 367 applications were made for 85 posts (a competition ratio of 4.32:1).

In 2025 there were 100 Acute Internal Medicine ST4 posts compared to 85 posts in 2024. An increase of 15 posts. 

Acute Internal Medicine became a ST4 option in 2022, previously available up to 2020 as an ST3 option. ST3 data has been included in the table to aid comparison.
