Specialty Training Fill Rates - England

In 2024 95.97% of the 10,871 posts available in England were filled. This is an increase in the fill rate compared to 2023 when 95.42% of 10,664 posts were filled.

At CT1/ST1 level 99.48% of 7,929 posts were filled (7,888 filled posts, 41 unfilled posts). This is an increase compared to 2023 when 99.35% of 7,810 CT1/ST1 posts were filled (7,759 filled posts, 51 unfilled posts). 8 out of 17 CT1/ST1 specialties (47.06%) filled all their posts, with 9 specialties having unfilled posts (a decrease compared to 2023 when 8 out of 16 specialties (50%) filled all their posts).

At ST3 level 91.08% of 1,267 posts were filled (1,154 filled posts, 113 unfilled posts). This is an increase compared to 2023 when 85.87% of 1,224 ST3 posts were filled (1,051 filled posts, 173 unfilled posts). 15 out of 29 ST3 specialties (51.72%) filled all their posts, with 14 specialties having unfilled posts (an increase compared to 2023 when 16 out of 32 specialties (50%) filled all their posts).

At ST4 level 83.04% of 1,675 posts were filled (1,391 filled posts, 284 unfilled posts). This is an decrease compared to 2023 when 83.79% of 1,629 ST4 posts were filled (1,365 filled posts, 264 unfilled posts). 4 out of 18 ST4 specialties (22.22%) filled all their posts, with 14 specialties having unfilled posts (a decrease compared to 2023 when 6 out of 25 specialties (24%) filled all their posts).
