Internal Medicine Training (inc. ACCS Internal Medicine) CT1 Competition Ratios

The competition ratio for Internal Medicine Training (inc. ACCS Internal Medicine) CT1 training posts in 2024 was 3.69:1. 6,273 applications were made for 1,698 posts. This is an increase in the competition level compared to 2023 when 4,406 applications were made for 1,670 posts (a competition ratio of 2.64:1).

Data for Internal Medicine Training and ACCS Internal Medicine is combined as both specialties share the same application form, with applicants choosing whether to apply for the IMT or ACCS route during the application process. 

Internal Medicine Training was introduced in 2019, replacing the Core Medical Training programme. CMT data in this table has been renamed to IMT to  make it easier to compare data.
