Information
The University of Manchester in partnership with NHS England North West and NIHR has developed an exciting pathway of academic clinical training opportunities.
Applications are now invited for two Academic Clinical Fellowships in General Dental Practice (Part-funded)
This job description should be read in conjunction with NIHR’s Dental Integrated Academic Training Academic Clinical Fellowship Recruitment Information Pack 2027 (available at: https://www.nihr.ac.uk/)
We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals with the potential to excel in both their clinical and academic work and who have the ambition to be the next generation of clinical academics.
Academic Clinical Fellowships (ACFs) in General Dental Practice are 3-year fixed-term national training posts and training is split 75 % clinical and 25% academic over the term of the post. NIHR funds these posts pro-rata for the academic component of the post only (25%), with this academic training being combined. The salary costs associated with the provision of clinical dentistry (75%) are to be drawn from the post-holder’s host practice.
ACF trainees will also undertake Master’s level academic research or educationalist training, provided by the University of Manchester, for which funding is provided by NIHR.
ACF trainees undertaking the academic research programme normally complete and submit an external funding application for a research fellowship to enable them to complete a higher degree (like a PhD) following the completion of their ACF fixed-term post.
