Information

We are expecting a high level of interest in Clinical Oncology which means that it is likely that a sufficient number of appointable applicants will remain at the end of the Round 2 recruitment process.  Posts with a later start date will be offered to those applicants and any remaining posts may be filled within the same recruitment round. As a result, we may not advertise again later in the recruitment year.

Applications are invited for a Clinical Oncology training programme at ST3 level across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This is a national single selection centre co-ordinated by London Recruitment team.

This is for completion of CCT/ CESR (CP) subject to satisfactory progression.

All applicants applying to medical specialties are required to have essential competences or equivalent depending on the level they are applying for. For more information on competences please refer to the Clinical Oncology Person Specification

Please upload all required evidence of competences to your online application form when completing the application form online. For those experiencing difficulties when uploading evidence, please ensure you contact the team via the PGMDE Support Portal

Please note that there is a strict application policy that applications cannot be accepted after the deadline.

The training programme is equally open to those who may, either from the outset or subsequently, wish to train flexibly or job share.

There are national changes to the recruitment process in relation to GMC eligibility and maximum application limits and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) interviews

Please review the Clinical Oncology person specification regarding registration and right to work for details of GMC eligibility at point of application.

Self-assessments/Evidence portfolio uploads the system used to do this is Qpercom (the same system to interview) and detailed information will be provided at the point of invitation to upload evidence.

Alternative Certificate: Applicants using the Alternative Certificate route should note that the 2026 version of Group 2 ‘Alternative Certificate to enter Higher Physician Specialty Training’ has been published. Please refer to the Physician Higher Specialty Training Recruitment website for further details. For 2026 recruitment cycle, this will be the only accepted version of the Alternative Certificate.

You will be required to complete a self-assessment as part of your Oriel application.

As part of the application process, you will be invited to upload the supporting evidence to justify the self-assessment achievements you claim on your application form. Failure to upload your supporting evidence may result in losing score. You should plan to have your documents ready to upload when the evidence upload window opens.

Applicant Self-Assessment Guidance: Guidance for applicant self-assessment can be accessed via Clinical Oncology Self-Assessment Guide

For information regarding reasonable adjustments and Disability Confident Scheme please refer to the Medical Specialty Recruitment website

A full timeline can be found in the Clinical Oncology ST3 Applicant Guide.

If eligible applications exceed interview capacity, shortlisting will be used to limit interview invitations to a manageable number.
