Specialty Training Fill Rates - Yorkshire and the Humber

In 2024 95.36% of the 1,100 posts available in Yorkshire and the Humber were filled. This is a slight increase in the fill rate compared to 2023 when 95.17% of 1,035 posts were filled.

At CT1/ST1 level 98.90% of 816 posts were filled (807 filled posts, 9 unfilled posts). This is a slight decrease compared to 2023 when 98.95% of 765 CT1/ST1 posts were filled (757 filled posts, 8 unfilled posts). 13 out of 14 CT1/ST1 specialties (92.86%) filled all their posts, with 1 specialty (ACCS Emergency Medicine) having unfilled posts (an increase compared to 2023 when 12 out of 16 specialties (75%) filled all their posts).

At ST3 level 85.04% of 127 posts were filled (108 filled posts, 19 unfilled posts). This is an increase compared to 2023 when 82.73% of 110 ST3 posts were filled (91 filled posts, 19 unfilled posts). 15 out of 19 ST3 specialties (78.95%) filled all their posts, with 4 specialties having unfilled posts – Clinical Oncology, Intensive Care Medicine, Clinical Radiology, Emergency Medicine (ACCS) (an increase compared to 2023 when 16 out of 22 specialties (72.72%) filled all their posts).

At ST4 level 85.35% of 157 posts were filled (134 filled posts, 23 unfilled posts). This is a slight decrease compared to 2023 when 85.63% of 160 ST4 posts were filled (137 filled posts, 23 unfilled posts). 8 out of 16 ST4 specialties (50%) filled all their posts, with 8 specialties having unfilled posts – Respiratory Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, Emergency Medicine, Renal Medicine, Acute Internal Medicine, Genitourinary Medicine (a decrease compared to 2023 when 14 out of 22 specialties (63.64%) filled all their posts).
