Specialty Training Fill Rates - Thames Valley

In 2024 94.54% of the 458 posts available in Thames Valley were filled. This is a decrease in the fill rate compared to 2023 when 96.84% of 411 posts were filled.

At CT1/ST1 level 100% of 314 posts were filled. This the same fill rate as 2023 when 100% of 302 CT1/ST1 posts were filled.

At ST3 level 93.33% of 60 posts were filled (56 filled posts, 4 unfilled posts). This is a decrease compared to 2023 when 94.83% of 58 ST3 posts were filled (55 filled posts, 3 unfilled posts). 16 out of 20 ST3 specialties (80%) filled all their posts, with 4 specialties having unfilled posts – General Surgery, Medical Oncology, Diagnostic Neuropathology, Rehabilitation Medicine (a decrease compared to 2023 when 16 out of 19 specialties (84.21%) filled all their posts).

At ST4 level 75% of 84 posts were filled (63 filled posts, 21 unfilled posts). This is a decrease compared to 2023 when 80.39% of 51 ST4 posts were filled (41 filled posts, 10 unfilled posts). 9 out of 15 ST4 specialties (60%) filled all their posts, with 6 specialties having unfilled posts – Acute Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Genitourinary Medicine, Palliative Medicine (a decrease compared to 2023 when 15 out of 19 specialties (78.95%) filled all their posts).
