Specialty Training Fill Rates - East of England

In 2024 94.1% of the 1,152 posts available in the East of England were filled. This is an increase in the fill rate compared to 2023 when 93.8% of 1,146 posts were filled.

At CT1/ST1 level 99.3% of 856 posts were filled (850 filled posts, 6 unfilled posts). This is a decrease compared to 2023 when 99.42% of 863 CT1/ST1 posts were filled (858 filled posts, 5 unfilled posts). 10 out of 15 CT1/ST1 specialties (66.67%) filled all their posts, with 5 specialties having unfilled posts – General Practice, General Practice and Public Health Dual CCT Programme, ACCS Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Histopathology (a decrease compared to 2023 when 11 out of 15 specialties (73.33%) filled all their posts).

At ST3 level 90.24% of 123 posts were filled (111 filled posts, 12 unfilled posts). This is an increase compared to 2023 when 82.91% of 117 ST3 posts were filled (97 filled posts, 20 unfilled posts). 17 out of 20 ST3 specialties (85%) filled all their posts, with 3 specialties having unfilled posts – Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, Emergency Medicine (ACCS) (an increase compared to 2023 when 15 out of 22 specialties (68.18%) filled all their posts).

At ST4 level 71.68% of 173 posts were filled (124 filled posts, 49 unfilled posts). This is a decrease compared to 2023 when 72.29% of 166 ST4 posts were filled (120 filled posts, 46 unfilled posts). 9 out of 15 ST4 specialties (60%) filled all their posts, with 6 specialties having unfilled posts – Geriatric Medicine, Gastroenterology, Pyschiatry, Renal Medicine, Palliative Medicine, Emergency Medicine (an increase compared to 2023 when 11 out of 22 specialties (50%) filled all their posts).
