Specialty Training Fill Rates - East Midlands

In 2024 96.78% of the 870 posts available in the East Midlands were filled. This is an increase in the fill rate compared to 2023 when 96.43% of 925 posts were filled.

At CT1/ST1 level 99.84% of 643 posts were filled (642 filled posts, 1 unfilled post). This is an increase compared to 2023 when 98.92% of 651 CT1/ST1 posts were filled (644 filled posts, 7 unfilled posts). 14 out of 15 CT1/ST1 specialties (93.33%) filled all their posts, with 1 specialty (General Practice and Public Health Medicine Dual CCT Programme) having unfilled posts (an increase compared to 2023 when 10 out of 12 specialties (83.33%) filled all their posts).

At ST3 level 90.99% of 111 posts were filled (101 filled posts, 10 unfilled posts). This is a decrease compared to 2023 when 94.78% of 134 ST3 posts were filled (127 filled posts, 7 unfilled posts). 14 out of 18 ST3 specialties (77.78%) filled all their posts, with 4 specialties (Haematology, Clinical Oncology, Chemical Pathology, Rehabilitation Medicine) having unfilled posts (a decrease compared to 2023 when 18 out of 22 specialties (81.82%) filled all their posts).

At ST4 level 85.34% of 116 posts were filled (99 filled posts, 17 unfilled posts). This is a decrease compared to 2023 when 86.33% of 139 ST4 posts were filled (120 filled posts, 14 unfilled posts). 9 out of 16 ST4 specialties (56.25%) filled all their posts, with 7  specialties (Psychiatry, Renal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Acute Internal Medicine, General Internal Medicine, Genitourinary Medicine, Paediatric Cardiology) having unfilled posts (a decrease compared to 2023 when 15 out of 25 specialties (60%) filled all their posts).
